Since 1824, Dois de Julho Parade has been held annually in Salvador as a commemoration of the process that culminated in Brazil's independence in Bahia, in 1823. The organization of this festivity is deeply anchored in the sociocultural and historical character that builds the local and regional political identity. In this paper, the empirical focus on the Parade allows us to demonstrate how the dialogue between Cultural History and the field of Organizational Studies can be significant to analyze manifestations that, in their cultural complexity, demand from researchers and cultural managers an alternative reflection to traditional normative approaches mobilized by the Management field, both in relation to non-formal and institutionalized organizations, and in methodological approaches that use history only in a functionalist and/or accessory way.
