Abstract

“HOLY SALVADOR, THE CITY OF OXUM: IJEXÁ DANCE”. This photographic essay was conducted in Salvador, Bahia, in 2017. These photographs were taken during an ethnographic field-research with the Terreiro people regarding their língua-de-santo, which is an Afro-Brazilian language. The images deal with the re-existence and the reinventing of the TERREIRO CITY. If overthere, as they sing “city, everyone is from Oxum”, here is asking for a blessing to the people/deity, who made death the enchantment and the terreirização of Brazil. “WE SAW IN SALVADOR IMPROBABLE ORIXÁS” in the daily tasks, Exu is in Liberty; Ogum is in Ogunjá; Oxossi is in the Forest Mouth; Ossain is in the Dark Forest; Omolu and Obaluaiyê are in Health; Naná is in the Great Lagoon; Oxumarê is in Mussurunga; Oxum is in Clear Waters; Iansã is in Pitangueiras; Iemanjá is in Red River Beach; Ibeji is in the Water of Boys; Xangô and Aiyrá are in Barros Reis and Oxalá is in Alto das Pombas.
