Abstract

Women of childbearing age (15 to 49 years) represent a large portion of the total population of a health territory. There are several factors that directly interfere with women's mental health, such as sociocultural, economic and environmental aspects. The objective was to identify the association between sociodemographic factors and the occurrence of depression, anxiety and stress in women of childbearing age assisted in Primary Health Care in a city in the Recôncavo da Bahia. This is a cross-sectional study with a sample of 73 women of childbearing age. Data collection took place in four primary care service, from October 2022 to April 2023. The Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS-21) and a questionnaire with sociodemographic data were applied. To assess the relationship between exposure and outcome variables, Poisson's multivariate analysis was adopted. The results showed that two variables, schooling and marital status, representing the women's social conditions, were positively associated with the occurrence of the studied outcomes. Therefore, a positive association was observed both between the education variable and the variables of depression (PR= 3.45; CI95%= 1.23-9.69), anxiety (PR= 5.73; CI95%= 3, 52-9.33) and stress (PR= 6.40; 95%CI= 3.94-1.04); regarding the variable marital status and the variables of depression (PR= 1.74; CI95%= 1.06-2.87), anxiety (PR= 1.63; CI95%= 1.01-2.64) and stress (PR= 1.76; CI95%= 1.06-2.93). The results showed a direct association between the variables education and marital status.
