Administration Internship in Physiotherapy: an innovative proposal articulating theory, practice and development of new skills.

Introduction: Among the competencies determined in the professional training of the physiotherapist, the development of administration and management stands out, being able to perform functions of management of health services, planning and organization. Objectives: This study aims to present, through a report of experiences, the various skills developed during the internship of Administration in Physical Therapy. Methods: This internship has been carried out at the Clinical School of Physical Therapy, of the Multidisciplinary Institute of Rehabilitation and Health, of the Federal University of Bahia. It has a non-mandatory character with a workload of 20 hours per week and adjusted to the fulfillment of the academic schedule. Results: In this stage, activities are proposed such as: patient registration organization, in the areas of General Physical Therapy, Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Pediatric Physical Therapy; clinic productivity management; assistance to the professional body, trainees and other service providers. This academic internship has contributed to learning about people management, pondering diversity and the way each member of the clinic team behaves and deals with conflicts and common processes. Many competencies have also been developed such as communication skills and problem solving. All the activities carried out follow the National Curricular Guidelines for the Physiotherapy course, which highlight an expanded conception of health. Conclusion: The internship of Administration in Physical Therapy has provided an enriching theoretical-practical framework for professional training, preparing to work in the public and/or private service, with a resolutive and plural vision based on practical experiences and scientific evidence that support these practices.
