The development of the Internet has allowed the emergence of different communication
platforms for health. However, the proliferation of this medium has been accompanied by concerns
about the quality of the information that is conveyed. To date, nothing is known about the online
presence of the Health Centre Groups, public services integrated into the National Health Service,
responsible for providing primary health care, in Portugal. The objectives of this study were to
identify the sites of these institutions on the Internet and analyze the quality of their content, in
accordance with the code of conduct of Health On the Net Foundation.
