This article proposes a reflection on the role of design in the design of products that are part of everyday life, such as furniture, but considering the artifacts from the symbolic character, subjective or communicative function and not only the practice. This paper is a brief analysis of the furniture created by designers Fernando and Humberto Campana that, currently, are the Brazilian designer of the most prominent international media. The design of the Campana brothers can be characterized as hybrid and multiple, challenging traditional classifications of modern design and function, use, need and seriation. A rapprochement with the Italian design of the 1960s and 1970, the Campana rearticulam the design language of Brazil, traveling between the local and global, tradition and invention.
