Abstract

This study aimed to compare CMT and Whiteside diagnosis methods by considering the economic and efficient identification of subclinical mastitis at field. One hundred and ninety-five milk samples of 50 crossbred (Zebu x European breeds) cows, in a total of four samples (one in each teat), were collected during five months. Data were performed by descriptive statistical analysis. CMT and Whiteside diagnosis methods showed, respectively, 53.4 and 40.0% of positive animals. Among the positive animals, for both methods, it was observed 5.12% of bacteria growth. CMT test was more sensitive and feasible as field diagnosis method compared to Whiteside one.
