Eugenol as anaesthetic for matrinxã juveniles (Brycon cephalus)
Abstract
This work evaluated the anesthetic capacity of the eugenol for juveniles “matrinxã” (Brycon cephalus) and the concentration effect in the anesthesy induction and recovery. Seventy-two (3.31 + 0.57 g) fish were submitted to eight different eugenol concentrations (50; 62,5; 75; 100; 125; 150; 175 e 200 mg/L) and submitted to deep anaesthesia; and afterwards the recovery in eugenol free water. It was concluded that eugenol is effective to induce deep anaesthesia in Brycon cephalus and the concentrations had strong influence in the induction time. The concentrations of 50; 62.5; 75 e 100 mg/L were good to deep anaesthesia in concern to induction and recovery times.Downloads
