Woven paths is a critical narrative of the African textile industry that explores the story and history of textile in West and Sub-Saharan Africa as a parallel to slave trade and colonial occupation. What we call African textiles today is imported textiles mainly produced in Europe and Asia, it shows how the movement of textiles brought our worlds together and created the current textile narrative on the continent. It is a piece to make us analyse our role in the development of a new narrative in African textile industry, how do we preserve our indigenous knowledge and embrace the new developments in textile design, understanding that unless our production becomes circular soon our resources will disappear along with our histories and traditions.
