Information For Authors

Since 2007, ICTUS Music Journal has adopted the continuous flow modality for new submissions. Effective publication of new submissions will depend on its acceptance through the blind-peer review process and the minimum editing time required for its inclusion in the journal.

In order to send contributions, authors must register and log into the journal webpage before submitting an article (see below For new Authors). After registering and logging in, please follow the instructions contained in the item "submissions". If you have already registered or previously published on ICTUS Music Journal, simply access the system with your login and password and follow the five steps contained in "Verification Items for Submission".

Authors interested in submitting contributions to ICTUS Music Journal may do so in the following ways:

a) Scientific articles: Original texts resulting from research carried out by the author(s) and of interest to the area;

b) Reviews: Texts with reviews made by the author(s) of publications of interest to the area;

c) Interviews: Texts with transcripts of interviews conducted by the author(s) of interest to the area;

d) Essays and Debates: Texts made by the author(s) around topics of interest to the area;

e) Ephemeris: Texts honoring people or events of interest to the area;

f) Documentation: Musicographic and/or sound documents of interest to the area (NOTE: this section can convey documents related to texts from the other sections).

All submissions must be made using only the online system available here.

Articles can be submitted in the following formats: Microsoft Word (up to version 2000) or RTF (rich text format).

Although each modality can accept up to 60,000 characters (including spaces and footnotes), we appeal to the common sense of the author (s) in order to understand that this is only an operational limit, and an eventual reduction may be requested. extension.

Texts may be written in Portuguese, Spanish or English. All papers must include versions of the abstract in English, in Portuguese (resumo), and in Spanish (resumen).

The accepted bibliographic style will be in accordance with the standards recommended academically for each of the accepted languages.

  1. The texts presented in Portuguese must comply with the New Orthographic Agreement, written according to the rules for the presentation of articles from the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards - ABNT - NBR6022 of May 2003;
  2. The texts presented in Spanish, must be written in accordance with the standard of presentation of articles of the ISO for Spanish language;
  3. The texts presented in English must be in accordance with the Chicago Manual of Style, in its 15th edition, at least.

If the article submitted for evaluation is accepted, the author(s) will be asked to send the musical examples and graphics, as well as tables and any other form of text illustration, in any of the following graphic formats: TIFF or JPG, with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi, which can be colored, in shades of gray or in black and white.

The user profile must be completely filled,

Put in the appropriate field a short biography that will be part of the final file if the article is accepted.

In the institutional link field, use the format:  <institution>, <city>, <state>, <country>.

The ORCID identifier is mandatory, which should be noted in the web address format: http://orcid.org/0000-0000-0000-0000 - (Note: we recommend not using "https".)

In case of co-authorship, each participant must have their own Profile.

Failure to comply with these items may disqualify the submission.

ICTUS Music Journal uses several tools to help assess the degree of originality of the contributions, in order to provide confidence to editors and authors and an indication of reliability for all involved.
