Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The contribution must be original and unpublished, present 1 (one) issue in Music research (at least) and can’t be under evaluation for publication in another jornal, periodical of newspaper (specialized or not). Otherwise, the justification must be sent to the Editorial Board through the field "Comments to the Editor";
  • The number ORCID, mandatory for approved works, will be requested upon submission.
  • In the case of co-authorship, it is required that all authors are identified in the submission.
  • Texts in Microsoft Word (version 2000 or after) or RTF (Rich text format) formats, file must not exceed 2MB in size.
  • Texts may be written in Portuguese, Spanish or English. All papers must include versions of the abstract in Portuguese, Spanish and English, with no more than 150 words.
  • The accepted bibliographic style will be in accordance with the academically recommended standards for each of the accepted languages.
    • Texts presented in Portuguese must comply with the New Orthographic Agreement, written in accordance with the article submission standard of the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards - ABNT - NBR6022 of May 2003;
    • Texts presented in Castilian, must be written in accordance with the ISO article submission standard for Spanish;
    • Texts presented in English must be in accordance with the Chicago Manual of Style, in its 15th edition, at least.
  • If the article submitted for evaluation is accepted, the author(s) will be asked to send musical examples and graphs via email, as well as tables and any other form of text illustration, in any of the following graphic formats: TIFF or JPG, with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi, which can be colored, in shades of gray or in black and white.

Author Guidelines

Since 2007, ICTUS Music Journal adopts the continuous flow modality for new submissions. Effective publication will depend on its acceptance by blind peer review process and the minimum editing / diagramming time required for inclusion in the journal.

In order to submit your articles it is necessary that you follow the follow the instructions described in the section Conditions for submission, considering that your contributions may be made in the following modalities:

a) Scientific articles: original texts resulting of research conducted by the author(s), being of interest to the area of knowledge;

b) Reviews: texts containing reviews by the author(s) of publications relevant to the área of knowledge;

c) Interviews: texts created by the author(s) around topics of interest to the area;

d) Essays and debates: texts created by the author(s) around topics of interest to the area;

e) Ephemeris: texts honoring people or events of interest to the area;

f) Documentation: musical sources of interest to the area. (Note: this section can convey documents related to texts from the other sections).

 

To new authors:

  • The user profile must be completed filled;
  • Put in the appropriate field a short biography that will be part of the final file if the article is accepted;
  • In the institutional link field, use the format: <institution>, <city>, <state>, <country>;
  • The ORCID identifier is mandatory, which should be noted in the web address format: http://orcid.org/0000-0000-0000-0000. (Note: we recommend not using "https").
  • In case of co-auhorship, each participant must have their own profile;
  • The ICTUS Music Journal uses several tools to help assess the degree of originaly of the contributions, in order to provide confidence to editors and authors and an indication of reliability for all involved.

Ephemerides

This section accepts texts honoring people or events relevant to the music area, being evaluated by the Editorial Board.

Articles

This section accepts original texts resulting from research, blind peer reviewed by members of the Scientific Council.

Debates

This section accepts texts debating topics of interest, in textual essay mode, blind peer reviewed by members of the Scientific Council.

Interviews

This section accepts texts resulting from interviews relevant to music research, with blind peer review by members of our Scientific Council.

Reviews

This section accepts texts with reviews of publications, blind peer reviewed by members of the Scientific Council.

Musical Documents

This section accepts musicographic, sound or audiovisual documents, blind peer reviewed by members of the Scientific Council and/or the Editorial Board, linked to published texts.
