Profile of CAPS III users with suicidal behavior

Abstract

Objective: to identify the profile of users with suicidal behavior admitted to CAPS III in Caicó/RN. Methodology: this is a cross-sectional study, with a quantitative approach, part of an action research, carried out in a CAPS III in the interior of the Northeast. Data collection took place between May and October 2018, with 1,711 CAPS III records from its implementation to March 2018. The collected data were organized in Microsoft Office Excel® spreadsheets, where statistical analysis was performed. descriptive to verify relative and absolute frequencies. Results: 35% of the medical records presented information about the users' suicidal behavior, of which there was a predominance of women (58.5%) and singles (47.1%), aged between 13 and 39 years (52 .2%), without information on education (31.4%) and occupation (29.4%), with Caicó as the city of origin (67%). Regarding the arrival at the service, 50% were spontaneous demand accompanied by family members. Most users (32%) had mood disorders (F30-F39), 20.13% had a history of using alcohol and/or other drugs. 64% of suicide attempts were identified, where 22% had tried more than twice, regarding the method, 29% were due to self-intoxication. 63.9% of patients had no history of psychiatric hospitalization and 64% were receiving outpatient medical care. Conclusion: The data reinforce the need to seek explanations for the high rate of suicidal behavior in the region studied, pointing to the importance of organizing an effective Psychosocial Care Network.
