Abstract

The aim of this work was to study the prevalence of American Cutaneous Leishmaniasis with repercussion in the oral cavity in the Alagoa Grande. Was used for the research the verification of the clinical fiches of the American Cutaneous Leishmaniasis in the Health Secretariat of the related city, where if it observed the existence or not of naso-buccal-pharyngeal repercussion. 53 patients had the presented American Cutaneous Leishmaniasis , observed, 64% were of the masculine sex, the band met enter 20 and 24 years and more than 65 , 45.16% illiterates, 96.2% presented cutaneous injuries, 3.8% injuries in the mucosa, 3.8% had presented buccal repercussions, 100% had carried through the Montenegro Skin Test to confirm the clinical diagnosis and 61.29% used antimonial pentavalente. It was observed that the index of mucous prevalence of American Cutaneous Leishmaniasis was of 0,67 cases for each 10.000 inhabitant. Studies of prevalence demonstrate the real situation of the epidemiology and have the necessity of the dentists to observe the regional characteristics of each disease as form of better diagnosis of the same ones. The American Cutaneous Leishmaniasis in the Alagoa Grande, Paraíba, demonstrates well this necessity due to its characteristic epidemiologists.
