During the months of October and November of 2006 an epidemic survey of the malaria occurrence was accomplished in three areas of Manaus and with registration in the Foundation of Tropical Medicine of Amazon during the year of 2005. In that place among other, the following information were collected: number of cases of malaria a month, malaria registration according to the species of Plasmodium and the area where the patient lived. Through descriptive statistics it was possible to verify that the malaria presents seasonal variation in all of the studied areas, as well as the largest percentile taxes happen in the rural sections of the same ones. However, with the accomplishment of the test it was possible to verify that there is no statistical correlation among the areas according to the presence or not of the species of P. falciparum and P. vivax. Accordingly, it was suggested that studies on the occurrence of tropical diseases, as the malaria, should deserve prominence in the government decisions about public health in the Amazon region.Downloads
