In a malacological survey carried out in Mariana county, Minas Gerais state, Brazil, among april 2003 and february 2004, during dry and rainy season, were collected 23,271 mollusks, corresponding to six species and four families. There were collected 11,147 Biomphalaria glabrata specimens, 12,092 Physa marmorata specimens, 24 Lymnaea columella specimens, 02 Melanoides tuberculatus specimens, 04 Drepanotrema anatinum specimens and 02 Drepanotrema lucidum specimens. The mollusks Physa, Lymnaea, Melanoides and Drepanotrema represented the first report to Mariana county. Among Biomphalaria glabrata collected, 111 specimens showed to be positive for Schistosoma mansoni cercaria and 23 specimens showed to be positive for several other trematodes larvae. One Physa marmorata specimen showed to be positive for trematode larvae. The utilization of a system GPS receptor possibilited the exact localization of collecting sites and the planorbid chart for Mariana county was elaborated, providing information about mollusks presence sites and risk' areas for schistosomiasis transmission.Downloads
