Spermatic survival at differents dilutions taxes in the swine semen
Abstract
This work aimed to evaluate the effect of the number of sperm per insemination dose (ID) on the spermatica quality, to determine the minimum number of cels in artificial insemination (AI) without affecting the semen fertilization quality. The semen was collected from four boars and after assessing the volume, concentration and sperm motility, it was diluted in BTS and stored for 3 days at 17° C. Sperm survival and parameters of sperm motility were assessed each 24 hours for the CASA automatic. The doses of 2 and 3 x109 sptz showed in vitro the better results of survival and sperm motility. Based on in vitro results, 30 sows were inseminated with 3.5 x109 sptz using pipette Goldenpig, 30 females inseminated with 2 x109 sptz and 30 females inseminated with 3.5 x109 sptz with pipette Goldengilt. There was no difference in fertility rates when compared the ID of 2 and 3.5 x109 sptz (93% for all doses). In conclusion, the limited reduction of the number of sperm in the ID does not affect fertility rates allowing to inseminate a greater number of sows.Downloads
