Um patrimônio cultural sem capital histórico: o caso de Varsóvia

Resumo

Este trabalho pretende contribuir com o debate sobre a ampliação do conceito do patrimônio cultural, contemplando como exemplo o caso da cidade de Varsóvia (capital da Polônia), destruída por Hitler após uma fracassada insurreição em 1944. O saber orgânico que religava a comunidade emocional dos moradores com as raízes fez com que Varsóvia ressuscitasse das cinzas como uma cidade, porém com escasso capital histórico, relacionado tradicionalmente com os monumentos, museus, arquivos, etc. A capital cresceu num processo de hibridação, alternando a polêmica restauração da face antiga com a imposição ideológica do regime comunista de ser uma cidade do futuro. As memórias individuais e coletivas, corporificadas espontaneamente no espectro da cidade exterminada, evocaram Varsóvia como lócus de memória articulando-a num patrimônio cultural único no mundo em que a vontade de lembrar eclipsou o esquecimento e a precariedade do capital histórico. Cultural patrimony without historical capital: the case of Warsaw ABSTRACT: The intention of this article is to contribute to the debate about enlarging the concept of cultural patrimony, taking as an example the case of the city of Warsaw (capital of Poland), destroyed by Hitler after a failed uprising in 1944. The organic knowledge linking the affective community of inhabitants with their roots led to Warsaw’s resurrection from the ashes as a city, even though with little historical capital, traditionally related to monuments, museums, archives, etc. The capital grew in a hybrid process, alternating the controversial restoration of its ancient features with the ideological imposition of the communist regime that it would be a city of the future. Individual and collective memories, spontaneously embodied in the spectre of the exterminated city, invoked Warsaw as a locus of memory articulating the city as a unique instance in the world of cultural patrimony in which the will to remember has eclipsed the forgetfulness and the precarious nature of historical capital.
